One man hospitalized after stabbing in Old Town

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A 33-year-old man was sent to a hospital Tuesday evening after being stabbed in Portland’s Old Town district.

Central Precinct officers responded to NW 4th Avenue and NW Burnside Street on the report of a stabbing just before 7:30 p.m.

A man was found with two stab wounds and transported to a Portland hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

The victim told police he was walking on the sidewalk between NW 3rd and 4th avenues on the north side of Burnside Street when he saw a younger girl in an alcove among a group of transients and asked her why she was outside.

A group of men transients in the next alcove stood up and confronted the victim. One from the group stabbed him, he said.

The suspect with the knife was described as a white man in his 20s with a skinny build, wearing a straight-brim baseball cap, dark-colored hoody and pants.

Several officers checked the area but did not locate the suspect.
