PENDLETON, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A wildfire has closed a police command office and coordination center in Pendleton.

As a precautionary measure on Thursday afternoon, fire suppression efforts closed the Oregon State Police Pendleton area command center along Interstate 84. Troopers, however, remained on patrol.

I-84 is closed near milepost 22 because of poor visibility from smoke. Find updates from the Oregon Department of Transportation here. The command center is expected to open Friday.

Another nearly 7,000 acre fire, in the Two Bulls area north of Bend is nearly contained. Fire season in Oregon began Monday, nearly three weeks earlier than usual.
