TROUTDALE, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The Reynolds High School student shot and killed in Tuesday morning’s tragic shooting at the Troutdale, Ore. school was freshman student and soccer player Emilio Hoffman, police said.
Hoffman, 14, was shot and killed in the boys locker room, after the shooter entered the building that houses the school’s gym. The shooter was found dead in a separate, different bathroom and his exact cause of death and identity are not yet 100% confirmed.
Police could not confirm whether or not the shooting was targeted.
Taking to social
Following the shooting, students of Reynolds High School took to social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram to mourn the loss of their fellow student.
A young man who identified himself as Hoffman’s brother said “he’s shot.”
According to one Twitter user, @KevinWilliams0, there will be a candle lighting at Walt Morey soccer field tonight for Hoffman at 9 p.m.
“Wow I can’t believe that you are gone.. RIP Emilio Hoffman. You were a great soccer player and a great friend. My prayers go out,”
Alyssa Karm, whose family confirmed she was Hoffman’s girlfriend, said Karm last spoke to him before class Tuesday.
He said Hoffman gave her a phone charger before they parted ways.
