Cold case murder: Woman found dead in Portland’s ‘Lovers Lane’

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) —- The death of a woman found dead in “Lovers Lane” remains unsolved 29 years later.

Tracy McCalip, 23, was found June 3, 1985, police said. She had been shot to death. A person mowing a grass near the intersection of Northeast 47th and Northeast Elrod Road found McCalip’s body lying in the field.

The area where McCalip was known at the time as “Lovers Lane,” police said.

On Tuesday, 29 years to the date of her death, police confirmed McCalip was reported to have known people who were encouraging her to engage in prostitution.

She was last seen alive on May 31, 1985 at the intersection of Northeast 20th and Northeast Sandy Boulevard around 9:30 p.m., police said.
