WOODLAND, Wash. (KOIN 6) — A Woodland man is awaiting formal charges Tuesday after allegedly beating an employee of a Cowlitz County eye care center.

Ryan Taitt, 33, was arrested Monday afternoon shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The Woodland Eye and Vision Center employee told police Taitt, who had just bought sunglasses, slipped into the store’s back storage room. When the employee walked into the room, Taitt allegedly assaulted the victim and stated he had a gun.

A brief struggle ensued before Taitt fled on foot, according to police. Woodland officers found Taitt not far from the business and taken into custody.

Police reported finding no gun on Taitt. He was booked into Cowlitz County Jail on assault and kidnapping complaints.

Woodland police did not offer the condition of the employee Tuesday.
