VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) — The owner of a horse that was attacked by a dog in a Vancouver park two weeks ago is now looking for that dog’s owner.

Christy Slaby said she was riding her horse, Roxy, on the trails of Frenchman’s Bar Park along the Columbia River when a dog not on a leash ran up to her and began biting and attacking Roxy. Slaby said the horse reared up, knocking her to the ground.

Slaby and Roxy weren’t seriously injured, but Slaby said the dog and its owner took off after the attack.

“His intent was to take her to the ground and kill her – the most terrifying experience of my life. It happened so fast,” said Slaby.

Clark County Animal Control is now trying to locate the dog’s owner. Animal control officials said they don’t have the resources to monitor the park like they would like to.
