BATTLE GROUND, Wash. (KOIN 6) — A search for a missing 11-year-old girl who vanished from her Battle Ground home sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning ended Thursday afternoon when the girl was found.

The girl, Kristina Alexandria Deryavko, was found in a shed reading a book, said Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Neiman.

Her parents discovered she was missing from her bedroom Thursday morning, in the 27700 block of NE Lewisville Highway. What alarmed everyone is that she had no history of being a runaway.

“You look at missing children cases and what can go wrong. It’s something you really want to jump on immediately and not make any assumptions that, oh, she’s probably in a shed reading a book because that may not be the case,” Neiman said. “So we’d rather err on the side of caution and bring in the adequate resources.”
