VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) — The streets of Vancouver were filled Wednesday afternoon with athletes running in the annual Special Olympics Torch Run.
More than 30 Special Olympics athletes ran with the Vancouver Police Department.
“It’s so fun. The athletes love to do it, and law enforcement loves it just as much,” said VPD’s Jane Easter.
The run is a key part of raising awareness for the Special Olympics and for families that live with special needs every day. It gives the athletes recognition they deserve, all while promoting health and sportsmanship.
