REEDSPORT, Ore. (KOIN 6) — At least two students suffered minor injuries after the school bus they were riding on hit a guardrail Tuesday afternoon on Highway 38 east of Reedsport, Ore.

The bus, carrying seven K-12 students from Elkton Charter School, drifted right into a metal guardrail and slid along the railing. Both students were taken to a Reedsport hospital for treatment. The driver, 68-year-old David Wiley, said he was briefly distracted before the crash.

The guardrail separates the highway from a steep bank leading to the Umpqua River. Oregon State Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate.
