Portland Thorns-heavy deal struck with ESPN

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The Portland Thorns FC will play on national television at least three times throughout the rest of the season following a deal struck between ESPN and the National Women’s Soccer League.

The two parties announced the one-year deal Wednesday, according to Timbers.com. Under the agreement, ESPN2 and ESPN3 will televise six regular season matches and three NWSL playoff matches in the late summer, concluding with the championship game Aug. 31.

Thorns matches will serve as bookends for the new TV deal, beginning with a Thorns-Breakers matchup July 20 and ending Aug. 17 with a Thorns-Reign showdown.
