Beaverton special ed athletes medal, share smiles

BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A record 620 special education students from Beaverton schools participated in the district’s Special Education Track and Field Invitational on Thursday.

Every child won a medal, and every parent, teacher and volunteer left the Beaverton High School at noon with a smile on their face.

“This is an inspirational event and the fact that our teachers and our students and our parents come together to do what’s right for students in this district, it makes me proud,” said Beaverton Superintendent Jeff Rose.

More than 200 student volunteers from Beaverton High School and staff volunteers from the throughout the district made the event possible.
