TROUTDALE, Ore. (KOIN) — Three months after a man vanished after hitting a guardrail in Troutdale, rescue crews searched the cliffs around the area.

Again, Kyle Peterson was not found.

On February 24, Peterson was in a single-car crash at SE 35th and Stark. He hit a guardrail and waited for police to arrive.

When officers arrived, Peterson did not appear to be injured and was cooperating. But, without notice, he walked off into the woods and hasn’t been seen since.

Police said Peterson ignored a request to stay at the scene and they did not go after him in a concern for officer safety, they said.

Numerous searches were done in the days immediately following, but there was still no trace of the 29-year-old.

Saturday, his family watched as Portland Rescue searched again.

“This is a really thorough search,” family member Linda Brem said. “We want to make sure he did not go off a cliff. These guys are the ones who can do that.”

She said they just wanted to make sure Peterson did not fall and get tangled in a tree. Peterson was in good spirits at the time and was getting ready for a trip to California, she said.
