PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Interstate 5 North to Highway 217 is scheduled to be closed overnight Thursday so transportation surveyors can take a closer look at what has recently become a magnet for accidents.

The advisory speed drops quickly to 35 mph at the ramp curve.

The bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday, according to Oregon Department of Transportation officials.

Last week, six crashes occurred on the northbound ramp in a 48-hour span.

ODOT officials believe a raised bridge joint is contributing to the problem.

During the closure, drivers can take the Kruse Way off ramp.
