Gas leak briefly evacuates SW Portland homes

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Homes close to a gas leak in Southwest Portland were evacuated Monday afternoon for a time while crews worked to contain a gas leak.

The leak at 1451 SW Markert was reported around 12:10 p.m. Emergency crews found a gas line in a 10-foot deep trench leaking.

By 1:15 p.m., the leak was contained. Nearby homes and businesses were checked for the presence of gas, and everyone was allowed back in their homes.
