PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Burgerville’s new location inside PDX has one unique feature that its other locations don’t: the restaurant does not have an ordering counter.
Instead, travelers will place their orders with staff members using hand-held devices.
Many of the menu items are packed in travel-friendly ways, making them easier to transport onto the plane.
Airport officials said Burgerville’s commitment to locally-sourced products made this an easy fit.
“We like local. We like people who are here,” Bill Wyatt, the executive director of the Port of Portland, told KOIN 6 News. “Burgerville is headquartered in Vancouver, where about a third of our passengers and a thrid of our employees come from.”
Burgerville said 85% of its food comes from local sources.
They’ve applied for a license to serve beer and wine at their PDX spot.
