PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — When the Portland Trailblazers aren’t busy winning their first NBA playoff series in 14 years, the Rose Quarter needs something more to draw people in.

City plans to revitalize the Rose Quarter include creating a full-time entertainment district with live music, restaurants and retail stores.

Although it’s not in the city’s 2014 budget, early reports indicate the mega-project would cost an estimated $100 million.

Portland Mayor Charlie Hales’ spokesperson, Dana Haynes, said the project is a priority.

“The mayor will take this to [Portland Development Commission], what can we reasonably do,” she said.

“Because there is no question this place needs to be done.”
