SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — Hundreds gathered in the capital to celebrate international worker’s day.
Groups ranged from advocates for immigration reform to supporters of Venezuelan protesters, minimum wage advocates and human rights groups.
May Day marches in Portland will shut down several downtown streets.
Events in downtown Portland will begin with a rally at 3:00 p.m. in Shemanski Square in the South Park blocks, followed by a march at 4:00 p.m., beginning in the South Park blocks at SW Park and Salmon.
The route will wind through downtown, and end back at the South Park blocks for a rally at 5:30 p.m.
Both marches have acquired proper permits.

- East on Madison to 2nd
- North on 2nd to Burnside
- West on Burnside to Broadway
- South on Broadway to Taylor

An unpermitted rally and march that began at Terry Schrunk Plaza is underway.
