PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A man who was one of the identity theft victims of a Central City Concern (CCC) employee says he was never even a client at the non-profit.
Joe Hall said he received a letter from CCC that stated he was one of the 15 people affected by an employee’s alleged scheme to steal social security numbers and file fake tax returns.
However, Hall said he has never even been a client of CCC and has never had any contact with them.
He said he is now worried his credit will be ruined.
“I just, after many years of not owning a house, I just bought this house. I got my credit straightened out. I got everything taken care of,” said Hall.
No one from CCC was available to comment on Hall’s case on Wednesday, but CCC officials said on Tuesday they are changing the way client information is handled to cut down on the risk of identity theft.
