1 dead, 1 injured in 3-car crash in Keizer

KEIZER, Ore. (KOIN 6) — One person is dead and another is injured after a three vehicle crash near Keizer Wednesday evening.

Police said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 9800 block of River Road NE.

Lavaughn Penner, 85, of Dallas, died and her 86-year-old husband, Loyd Penner, was injured when Loyd Penner slowed to make a left hand turn into Egan Gardens and pulled out in front of a car driven by Adan Ortiz-Juarez, 41, for unknown reasons, according to police.

After the two vehicles collided they hit a third vehicle that was waiting to leave Egan Gardens. Julie Huster, age 54 of Salem was the driver of the third vehicle, police said.

Ortiz-Juarezn and Huster were not injured.

Deputies said they will determine over the next few days whether any drivers will be cited for any driving offenses.
