SISTERS, Ore. (KOIN 6) — One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash that occurred on Highway 20 in the Santiam Pass area west of Sisters, Oregon, on Monday.
According to Sgt. John Russo, around 9:15 a.m., 86-year-old Deana May Igoe from Grand Junction, Colorado, was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 when she lost control while driving over ice. Her vehicle went into the westbound lanes and was struck by and SUV driven by Winston Saunders, 57.
Igoe was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Saunders and his passenger, Sara Stamey, 56, who are both from Hillsboro, were taken to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with non-threatening injuries.
Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers said all occupants were using safety restraints and both vehicles’ airbags deployed upon impact.
OSP troopers from the Bend Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
