PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Portland Trail Blazers fans received an email Monday to warn them about fraudulent playoff tickets being sold online.

According to the email, levels of fraudulent ticket purchases on third party locations has increased since the Trail Blazers made it in to the playoffs.

“We’re actually seeing some more instances of fraud than other markets might. We sold out 25 of our last 30 home games,” said Vincent Ircandia, vice president of business analytics for the Trail Blazers. “Last night, for example, we had eight instances of fraud, which is more than we’ve seen early on in the season.”

In the email, fans were reminded that trailblazers.com is the only location to purchase “guaranteed safe, authentic and official” Trail Blazers tickets online.

“Nothing is worse than when a fan shows up excited to see the game and there’s not too much we can do for them when we’re in a sold out environment and they’ve gotten a ticket from a third party site and it’s not authentic,” said Ircandia.

The Trail Blazers will take on the Rockets in their first round playoff matchup.
