LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The father of the former Lake Oswego cheerleader accused in a sex trafficking case told KOIN 6 News on Monday he is outraged at his daughter’s suspected pimp.
Julia Haner is currently out of jail and living with her mother in addition to following several other conditions in order to stay free pending trail.
Her father, Michael Haner, said he cannot even imagine what his daughter has gone through and has no words for her suspected pimp, 30-year-old Konrod Mason.
“You know what I want to do. You know, but the best thing is just to stay strong for Julia,” said Michael Haner.
Julia Haner and Mason are facing sex trafficking charges after investigators said Mason forced Julia to lure other teens into prostitution. According to court document, Mason would often strangle Julia Haner as well.
“I’ve been extremely worried about Julia for a couple years now…since she was 18 and left home,” said Michael Haner.
Prior to leaving home, Julia was a talented cheerleader at Lake Oswego High School, according to Michael Haner.
Michael Haner said she left school and home and began working at a local strip club after she turned 18. He said he believes bad people, bad choices and possibly troubles in her past added up to a dangerous road.
“She wants to do right. She just needs direction, I think. I think she’s going to get that now,” said Michael Haner.
A trial date for Julia Haner’s case has been set for June 10.
