PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Mayor Charlie Hales and Commissioner Nick Fish said the Portland City Council will consider reforming the Water and Sewer Bureau if the ballot measure is defeated on May 20.

Hales and Fish said they’re committed to serious reform proposals and are reviewing names for a 12 to 15 member blue-ribbon commission.

Members would present the council with reform proposals in the fall.

The ballot proposal would remove city council oversight of the bureau and give it to an independently elected board.
