BEND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver stopped for speeding led to the discovery of four pounds of methamphetamine in the car’s trunk and the arrest of two people.
The arrest happened on April 4, Oregon State Police said in a release.
Around 12:20 p.m. that day, a Hyundai Elantra was pulled over for speeding on Highway 97 about four miles south of Bend.
During the traffic stop, the trooper found the meth, valued at $60,000, hidden in the car’s trunk and back seat compartment.
The 32-year-old driver, Carmen D. Zavala, and his passenger, Davey L. Culpus, 28, were arrested. Both face charges of unlawful possesion and delivery of a controlled substance.
