LONGVIEW, Wash. (KOIN) — Fire crews in Longview, Wash. put out a fire followed by two explosions in an engulfed semi truck early Monday morning outside a care home.

The truck, part of the Salem-based Spring Valley Dairy fleet, was on fire behind the Frontier Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center at 1500 3rd Ave, where roughly 115 patients and staff were in the building.

When police arrived on scene, the truck’s cab was in flames. Shortly after, the drivers’ side tire exploded, only 10 feet from the building’s laundry facility and directly in front of a commercial gas line and a fixed propane tank.

The building was evacuated and neither firefighters nor any residents or staff were injured.

Still, another explosion — this time in the truck’s refrigeration unit — erupted from the burning vehicle.

It took crews nearly 20 minutes to fully extinguish the blaze.

The fire is currently under investigation and there are no estimates of the extent of the damage as of yet.
