PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A three-vehicle interstate crash led to the death of a motorcyclist just north of the Oregon-Washington divide Monday.
Washington State Trooper Will Finn said Monday afternoon the collision happened on Interstate 5 northbound under the Carty Road overpass.
The motorcycle, an SUV and a pickup truck were all involved. The SUV rolled multiple times, Finn said, injuring the driver, whose condition is not yet known. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt, according to Finn.
Authorities are still investigating how the crash occurred.
The left two lanes of I-5 are expected to be closed through the afternoon and possibly will not be re-opened by rush hour. The right lane is open, but traffic is reportedly stalled.
The I-5 accident was the second fatal motorcycle crash in the area Monday. A Beaverton, Ore. man was pronounced dead Monday morning on Cedar Hills Boulevard when he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and was hit by an SUV.
