SHERWOOD, Ore (KOIN) — The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck NW of Sherwood on Sunday.
According to USGS’s website, the earthquake struck 12.1 miles beneath the surface Sunday evening at 8:33 p.m.
USGS received a total of 1,200 reports of people feeling the earthquake with most coming from Beaverton. A few people said they felt the quake as far away as Sandy in Clackamas County and Battle Ground in Clark County.
“We heard kind of suddely this loud crash, metallic maybe like a ladder falling down,” said Sherwood resident Peter Laughlin.
“We looked, we couldn’t find anything.”
Laughlin said he figured out it was an earthquake when be began receiving text messages from his friends.
Washington County dispatch said there were no reports of any damage.
