GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. (KOIN) — Businesses on Mount Hood that were struggling this past winter got a break on Thursday when some fresh snow fell on the slopes.
After low snowfall during December and half of January, Mt. Hood Skibowl reported that 8-inches of snow fell of the mountain.
On this final weekend of spring break, many like Gregg Snyder chose to hit the slopes rather than the beach.
“We love spring break. We’ve skied every spring break for the last five years. Not every day in the rain, but it’s great to be up here,” said Snyder.
Managers at Mt. Hood Skibowl said they always prepare for low snowfall years by creating more family activities like cosmic inter-tubing that help out financially tough times when snow is scarce.
This Saturday Red Bull will be host an event at Mt. Hood Skibowl. Schlittentag, which is German for “sledding day,” will put teams of three against each other to compete to be the “fastest sledders.”
