2 people injured in I-5 crash near Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK, Wash. (KOIN) — Two people were hospitalized on Wednesday after an accident on Interstate 5 near Castle Rock, Washington.

Police said Angelina Puris, 63, was driving northbound on Interstate 5 when she lost control and crossed the median and struck another vehicle in the southbound lanes.

The two cars fully blocked the southbound lanes, backing up traffic for miles, according to Washington State Trooper Will Finn.

Puris was transported to a Portland hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle, 72-year-old Robert Huling, was also transported to a hospital but with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said both vehicles were totaled.
