PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Guinness World Record official confirmed on Tuesday that Portland now holds the world record for most people hugging trees at one time.

An official verified the results of a group tree hug from last summer at Hoyt Arboretum that more than 900 people took part in to show their appreciation for trees.

Scotland has already threatened to challenge the record, prompting a new Portland tree hug to be scheduled for this July.
