LONGVIEW, Wash. (KOIN) — A woman is in police custody after a nearly five hour standoff with Longview police on Tuesday.
Authorities responded to a report of a woman with a gun at Carl’s Towing Service and Repair at 1137 Vandercook Way around 4:30 p.m.
Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha said a 43-year-old woman walked into the towing shop, displayed a gun and demanded to speak with the media about her story. The woman did not go into detail as to what her story is, according to Duscha.
Ray Tompkins, who works at the Sterling Honda dealership on Vandercook Way, said he was on his way home from work when his workplace was evacuated after police arrived on the scene. Other businesses in the area were also evacuated.
No injuries were reported.
Police said the woman, who they would not identify, was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
