PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Officers responded to the Lloyd Center Macy’s store after a report that Loss Prevention Officers were struggling with an armed shoplifter.

Police said during the altercation an African American man and a Macy’s associate ran out of the store after the associate grabbed the gun the man was carrying.

After receiving a possible vehicle description, police spotted it at NE 7th Avenue and Prescott Street. The driver and passenger jumped out of the vehicle and began to run, according to officers.

Police said they were able to detain one person after a search of the neighborhood.
