PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Six days after the body of a 61-year-old man was found in his Portland home, his nephew was arrested and charged with his murder.
Matthew Galen Bigboy was taken into custody Sunday at his home in the 8300 block of N. Fowler Avenue, police said. He will be arraigned Monday for the March 10 murder of his uncle, Eugene Bigboy.
Eugene Bigboy had been in poor health and his body was found in his home in the 5800 block of NE Center Commons Way by officers, authorities said. There was no evidence a crime was committed.
But an autopsy found he was killed. It was not revealed how exactly he died.
Investigators looked into the case and the 22-year-old nephew was arrested.
Matthew was born in April 1991. Court records show Eugene Bigboy filed to become guardian of Matthew in November 1991 and was awarded guardianship in February 1996.
In January, Matthew changed his Facebook profile picture to a photo from the Department of Corrections.
Matthew Bigboy’s record includes assault and unlawful use of a weapon. His grandfather filed for domestic abuse prevention against Matthew in 2011, court documents revealed.
