PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The family of Kyle Peterson, missing since a minor traffic accident in Troutdale Monday night, said private K-9 search dogs indicated there are human remains in the Sandy River.

However, no body has yet been found.

The family is organizing a private ground search on Saturday and ask volunteers to meet at the Troutdale Market Center, SE Start Street and Troutdale Road, at 10 a.m.

Around 8:15 p.m. Monday, Peterson collided his Jeep into a guardrail at Southeast 35 Avenue and Stark Street. After Troutdale police responded to the scene, Peterson, 29, walked into the woods and ignored an officer’s requests to remain at the scene. Officers lost sight of him, and he disappeared.

Search and rescue crews spent Tuesday through Thursday canvassing the area and scouring the Sandy River with no success. The official search was abandoned Thursday night.
