Portland teen murder suspect arrested in Las Vegas

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A man wanted in a Northeast Portland gang shooting 11 months ago that left an 18-year-old dead has been captured in Las Vegas by federal authorities.

Portland police report that 23-year-old Lonnell Demarcus George was caught at a Las Vegas apartment Wednesday by FBI agents and Las Vegas police.

George is accused in the March 27, 2013, shooting death of Edward Jewell Paden Jr. Paden was shot at the Valero Gas Station at Northeast 60th Avenue and Killingworth Street, in the Cully neighborhood.

George has a history of weapon-related arrests and gang activity. Portland police issued a murder warrant for him earlier this month. Portland police did not confirm how they identified George as a suspect or located him.

He is lodged in the Clark County (NV) Detention Center awaiting extradition to Oregon. Anyone with information on the case should call Portland police detectives at 503-823-0457.
