PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Lacey, Wash., woman has been arrested on murder charges in the death of her 2-year-old daughter.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reports that Monique Hatchel was taken into custody early Thursday morning after an autopsy confirmed that her daughter had died of serious blunt force injuries to her abdomen.

The girl passed away early Tuesday morning. The Thurston County Coroner’s Office determined that she had sustained the injuries several days prior to her death.

At about 1 a.m. Tuesday, paramedics and deputies responded to a 911 call from a residence in the Tanglewild neighborhood of Lacey. The caller said the girl was unconscious and CPR was being conducted on her.

The girl was taken to Providence St. Peters Hospital in Olympia where she later died, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

Hatchel was booked into the Thurston County Jail Thursday on one count of second-degree murder.
