PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — DeShawn Shead returned to the campus of Portland State University just weeks after becoming a Super Bowl champion with the Seattle Seahawks.
Shead played for the PSU Vikings from 2008 through 2011. For the Seahawks, he played on special teams in their 43-8 shellacking of the Denver Broncos.
“You can think about it and you can imagine it, but once it becomes a reality, you still can’t believe it,” he told KOIN 6 News. “I mean, we still have our (Super Bowl) rings on the way and once the rings come there will be emotion that’s built up again.”
Another Viking, Julius Thomas, was also in the Super Bowl. He caught four passes for 27 yards as the tight end with the Broncos. He and Shead were PSU teammates in 2010.
Shead joins Clint Didier and Ted Popson as former PSU players who went to become Super Bowl champions.
