PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Teachers at three Portland schools left their buildings after school on Friday carrying boxes and their personal effects as the threat of a strike looms over the district.
The teachers at Grant High School spoke who spoke with KOIN 6 News said they hope this is symbolic move sends a message to the district.
PPS administrators told KOIN 6 News this is normal procedure, under the circumstances.
The teachers said they planned to be in the classroom again on Monday. The strike is set for Thursday.
Representatives from both the teachers and the district plan to meet and negotiate Sunday and Monday and remain hopeful a deal can be reached.
