BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN)–A man who was shot and injured by Beaverton police after allegedly refusing to drop a knife has been identified.

Twenty-eight-year old Herbert Rabago was shot during a domestic disturbance Tuesday afternoon at a home in the 1500 block of Southwest Bridle Hills Drive.

According to Beaverton police, Rabago ignored commands to drop a large knife, and charged at the officer who then shot and wounded him.

The officer was also identified Friday as Jeremy Shaw, a 10-year veteran of the department. He is on paid administrative leave, standard department policy in any officer-involved shooting.

Rabago was seriously hurt and is recovering at a Portland area hospital. He is expected to survive.

Police have not confirmed the circumstances of the domestic disturbance or whether Rabago will face charges.
