PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Union Pacific locomotive derailed early Tuesday morning, but no injuries or spills were reported.

Aaron Hunt, a spokesperson with Union Pacific confirmed the derailment occurred on Union Pacific property near North Columbia Boulevard and North Swift Avenue. Hunt said the derailment happened on the northern end of the Barnes Yard.

Hunt said there were no injuries or any spills reported. Emergency dispatchers with the Portland Bureau of Emergency Communications said police were notified as part of standard protocol but officers did not respond.

The locomotive derailed in the upright position, Hunt said. He said crews are working to get it back on the track.
