PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — As the Storm of 2014 raged on Friday, two joggers, Chelsea and Michael, stopped to speak with KOIN 6 News reporter Lisa Balick about the snow and running in it.
It was a pleasant interview, and off they jogged — but about 30 feet away, Chelsea lost her footing and fell flat on her back.
She got up, gave a thumbs-up and moved on.
But the video, posted to the KOIN 6 News YouTube page, went viral. It was picked up on many sites, including the Huffington Post.
On Deadspin, she was the first commenter. Chelsea wrote: “As the chick in this video, all I can say is that running in powder when there’s no one else out at night is a s—load of fun. But stopping to pose for the local news station in the middle of the icy street hurts like a bitch. Glad it’s as funny for everyone else as it was for us.”
Cobra Brah replied, “You took a major spill and owned up to it with class. Essentially, you are the complete opposite of British Petroleum. Kudos.”
But other, later commenters weren’t so pleasant.
The appropriately named meanman99 hoped four specific “things happen to this awful lady,” and ended with “There is a special place in hell for hipsters like her.”
To which Chelsea replied, ” Daaaamn, dude! … Can’t imagine what’s in store for anyone who actually takes themselves (or something this dumb) that seriously. Yikes.”
Editor’s Note: We think she’s a good sport and hope the only bruise she has is from the fall and not from the largely anonymous comments on websites.
