BEND, Ore. (AP) — Police say a Bend High School student died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the presence of classmates.
KTVZ reports that Bend Police Chief Jim Porter says the student brought the gun onto campus and fired the fatal shot Friday in a modular classroom. No one else was injured.
Police did not identify the student or provide a gender or age.
The Bend-La Pine School District says emergency responders came to the school just after noon Friday when a caller reported the campus suicide.
The central Oregon school was locked down for more than two hours before students were released. The district says a crisis team is helping students.
All after-school activities were cancelled.
