PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Twice in 24 hours, TVF&R firefighters helped deliver a baby in the back of an ambulance.
Around 2 a.m. Saturday, officials said, a couple called 911 from the parking lot of a grocery store near SW 185th and Farmington in Aloha because they knew they wouldn’t make it to the hospital in time.
Firefighters from Station 67 arrived quickly and put the expectant mother into an ambulance. On their way to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, a healthy baby girl was born in the ambulance. Once the baby was born, the ambulance stopped so the father could get in and be with his wife and daughter.
Just 24 hours earlier, two other firefighters from Station 67 helped deliver a baby boy in the back of an ambulance along Highway 217 North as it headed to Providence.
Everyone is healthy, officials said.
