PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) —- A suspected drunken driver was taken to a local hospital after being injured in a rollover crash early Thursday morning.
Police said the crash was reported around 1:50 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast 41st Avenue and Halsey Boulevard. Officers said the woman drove several blocks on Union Pacific railroad tracks and eventually rolled over.
An employee with Union Pacific told KOIN the woman got access to the tracks near 28th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The woman was conscious and breathing when firefighters responded to treat her. Police suspect she was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Union Pacific had to shut down the railroad while police and fire crews cleared the scene. The vehicle was towed and the tracks re-opened, officials said. There were no disruption to MAX service.
The case will be referred to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
