Driver crashes into parked car, apartment building

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Police are investigating a hit and run crash that caused extensive damage to a parked vehicle Thursday morning.

The crash was reported at around 6 a.m. at 7601 North Hereford Ave. Police said the driver of a Pontiac crashed into a parked vehicle, drove onto the curb and then into the apartment building.

Police said the driver fled from the scene. Police did several area checks, but could not locate the suspect.

The crash was reported by Portland firefighters at Station 26, which is only a few feet from the scene. Firefighters said they heard the crash and came outside.

There was very little damage to the building, but the parked vehicle that was hit suffered extensive damage.

Police have not said if they have identified the driver, but confirmed the license plates on the vehicle were being processed. An officer with the Traffic Division responded to the scene to diagram the crash.
