Man admits stealing gravestones

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A bus driver admitted he stole gravestones from an Oregon pioneer cemetery in Wasco County in late 2013 and was placed on two years probation.

Christopher Kelly pleaded guilty on Monday morning. to theft and abusing memorials to the dead.

A number of gravestones  from the Rebekah Community Cemetery near the eastern Oregon town of Dufur were found in the backyard of his Sellwood home after his friend saw them and called police.

Along with the probation, Kelly must perform 200 hours of community service.
