BEND, Ore. (AP) — The police chief in Bend has been fired following revelations that a police spokesman had sexual relations with three city employees and a journalist.

City manager Eric King told The Bulletin newspaper and KTVZ  Wednesday that Police Chief Jeff Sale’s contract was terminated for no cause, qualifying him for four months of severance pay.

But it comes soon after the resignation of the department’s chief spokesman, Lt. Chris Carney. An internal investigation alleged Carney had sexual contact with three city employees and one member of the local media, some of it while on duty.

King says he felt a change in leadership was needed after conducting an internal review.

Capt. Jim Porter will take over as interim chief.
