PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland ad agency is getting national attention for a video it made urging director J.J. Abrams to not fall into what they say are the same mistakes George Lucas made in the Star Wars prequels.
The creative minds at “Sincerely Truman,” an agency at 380 NW 13th Ave., posted a house-made video to YouTube Sept. 26. It has since gone viral, with more than three-quarters of a million views as of press time.
The video gives Abrams four rules for Episode 7, in what the agency called a “warning cloaked in a love letter.” So far more than 14,000 people have signed a companion petition urging Disney to follow their rules.
Abrams himself may have actually seen the video and emailed the company for the producer’s phone number.
“We’re pretty sure it’s him,” said Prescott Harvey, a producer at Sincerely Truman. “I honestly don’t know what to expect: cease and desist or whether he liked my rules. But obviously I’m really curious to hear from him and see what that’s about.”
