PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The vegan strip club of a dancer who sparked a media firestorm when she disclosed Twitter messages that she exchanged with U.S. Senate candidate Cory Booker is taking advantage of its newfound fame.
Northwest Portland’s Casa Diablo confirmed Friday that it has added the $8 Booker Burger to its menu. The veggie burger includes lettuce, tomatoes, onions, vegan Thousand Island dressing and comes with fries or Pad Thai.
On Wednesday, 26-year-old Lynsie Lee showed the website BuzzFeed a screenshot of the direct messages that she exchanged with the 44-year-old Booker, the mayor of Newark, N.J. Booker, who is single, acknowledged and defended the exchange in a news conference Thursday.
“I don’t study people’s profiles,” he said. “I tweet people back from all different backgrounds. It’s not something I pay attention to.”
In an interview with KOIN, Lee said that exchanges occurred in February. The two met online through their involvement in the documentary “Follow Friday,” a film about Twitter. They have never met in person.
“We’ve done nothing wrong,” Lee told KOIN. “We’re both nice people; we have different careers obviously, and the media is just trying to find something to grasp.”
Lee said that she flirted with Booker, but described him as a gentleman.
“If anything, I’m the one who is the perverted one,” Lee said. “I was the Anthony Weiner in this situation, but he had the most gentlemanly reply to everything I said to him.”
