PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland strip club dancer whose tweets with US Senate candidate Cory Booker recently came to light thinks the entire story is silly and overblown.
Lynsie Lee, 26, told KOIN 6 News she’s never met Booker in person but admits she has a crush on him after following him on Twitter.
The online flirtation started when she messaged him at one point: “If you ever become the real President I’ll be your First Lady.”
Booker, running for the open US Senate seat in New Jersey, is 44 and single. He said Thursday that everything that happened won’t change how he uses Twitter. He said he communicates with thousands of people through Twitter and doesn’t pay much attention to what they call themselves online or what they do for a living.
The messages between Lee and Booker were sent in February.
“I think it’s hilarious. I think it’s silly,” Lee told KOIN 6 News. “Once we found out about it, me and him both tweeted jovial things like, oh this is really nothing, like, we’ve done nothing wrong. We’re both nice people, we have different careers obviously and the media is just trying to find something to grasp on.”
She dances at Casa Diablo, a vegan strip club in Northwest Portland, and said she’s flirted with Booker multiple times.
“If anything, I’m the one who is the perverted one. I was the Anthony Weiner in this situation, but he had the most gentlemanly reply to everything I said to him.”
Lee said Booker was just being nice.
“I took it as flirting, he just took it as being kind to me, and that’s why I reiterated that he was flattering me when he replied and it was nothing more than that,” Lee told KOIN 6 News. “He wasn’t trying to get in my pants or get nudes because you can get those easily.”
